John: 16:23 Jesus speaking .."And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily,
I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give it you (KJV)
Andrew Murray: In Jesus' farewell discourse (John13-17), He (Jesus) presented life in the Spirit in
all its power and attractiveness. Through the Holy Spirit, we can go directly to the Father. Seven times Jesus repeats the
promise: "You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it" The verses are as follows.
John 14:13-14; 15;7, 16:23-24, 26 Take time to read those passages so that
you may come to understand how urgently and earnestly Jesus repeated the promise.
The number one lesson in prayer power is "in the name of Jesus". There is
no other way..
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Heb: 13:8
Quotations:
Andrew Murray: "In the history of the church two great truths stand out,
"where there is much prayer, there will be much of the spirit; where there is much of the spirit, there will be ever increasing
prayer."
Believing Faith in God and a forgiving spirit.
St. Mark: 11:22 Jesus speaking: "Have faith in God
St. Mark 11:24 "Believe that ye receive them and ye shall have them.
St Mark: 11:25 "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also
which is in heaven may forgive you your trespases.
Note: Please read the complete verses so that nothing will be taken out of context: KJV version
of the bible used, however; you can read from a version that you are more comfortable with.
Jesus had not been crucified at this point in scripture. His blood had not been shed for the remission
of sins. He had not yet risen victorious over death and the grave. This same Jesus is now seated at the Father's right hand
interceding to the Father on our behalf.
Christ intercedes for us for the same reason we intercede for each other—we need help, we
need God's power to resist temptation and live holy lives. Atonement (being at one with God or being reconciled to God by
our faith in Christ) saves us, but we live daily in a world that is sinful and our mind is bombarded with sinful
thoughts.
James 5:16b: The effectual fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much. If a righteous
man's prayers are effective, how more effective are Christ's prayers for us. Still, we have freedom to choose,
and even with Christ's prayers, God often allows us to make the wrong choice. We choose, we still make the decision, even
though we know it to be right or wrong. Don't blame God for your wrong decision making.
What an encouragement to know that even if no one else knows our needs and is praying for us, Christ
does and is.
Chorus
Yes, He's ever interceding,
to the Father for His children.
Yes He's ever interceding,
to the Father for His own.
So bring Him all your heavy burdens,
lay them at the feet of Jesus.
Yes He's ever interceding,
to the father from His throne.
Note: words may not be exactly as written
We can be victorious over the world:
1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him (Jesus) if we ask anything according to his will, he
heareth us. vs 15: And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired
of him.
Chorus, There's Power in Prayer
Oh, there's power in prayer, power in prayer
all that you ever need, is waiting right there
just a few words, a child's faith,
it's good bye despair,
Oh there's power, so much power
There's power in prayer.
