                                                 Is sport a sin?
I guess, there are some of us who are seeing red or breathing fire, when we see a headline like this. Let's stop for a minute and make it personal,
"Is sport a sin , in my life"?
Take a minute to meditate or think about the question. Don't take any longer then a minute.

The following are web definitions as taken directly from a Google search : Define sin
  • estrangement from god
  • an act that is regarded by theologians as a transgression of God's will
  • wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

  • Sin has been a term most usually used in a religious context, and today describes any lack of conformity to the will of God; especially, any willful disregard for the norms revealed by God is a sin. The word is from the old English synn, presumed to be from Germanic *sun(d)jō (lit: "it is true"). It is recorded in use as early as the 9th century. The most common formal definition is an infraction against religious or moral law. ...

  • Now let's try and define sin, from a biblical perspective.

Sin is anything that is contrary to the will of God or doesn't show the holy character of God,
The Hebrew and Greek words translated "sin" throughout the Bible revolve largely around two major concepts. The first is that of transgression. To transgress means "to step across" or "to go beyond a set boundary or limit." The second is to miss the mark.
In most sports there is a boundary and if a player steps outside the boundary, he has committed a transgression. Those of us who are or have participated in sport know what it is to miss the mark.

The transgression in sport is a penalty, the transgression in God's judgment is sin.

Definition of the word Sin (Easton's Bible Dictionary)

Sin is “any want of conformity unto or transgression of the law of God” ( 1 John 3:4 ; Rom. 4:15 ), in the inward state and habit of the soul, as well as in the outward conduct of the life, whether by omission or commission ( Rom. 6:12-17 ; 7:5-24).

"If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives" (1 John 1:8-10).

Is sport a sin, in YOUR life? Only you can answer that question.
Does sport come before God? If the answer is yes, then sport may have become YOUR god and.....YOUR answer.

    MATTHEW 6:24 NKJ
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

Whatever controls you, or ultimately determines your decisions, is your god.

We believe that the majority of people reading this page, have a desire to be acceptable to God.

Blessings to you in your relationship with God and your sport or sports.
I have to admit that sport was a sin in my life. I lived for sport. It took first place in my life over, God, my family and my work. I still enjoy sports, however; sport doesn't control my life. My present priorities, God, family, work and recreation.

Definition of sin from Got questions.com

Definition of the word Forgiveness of sin

In pardoning sin, God absolves the sinner from the condemnation of the law, and that on account of the work of Christ, i.e., he removes the guilt of sin, or the sinner’s actual liability to eternal wrath on account of it. All sins are forgiven freely ( Acts 5:31 ; 13:38; 1 John 1:6-9 ). The sinner is by this act of grace for ever freed from the guilt and penalty of his sins. This is the peculiar prerogative of God ( Ps. 130:4 ; Mark 2:5 ). It is offered to all.
